Aches & Pains: Part 1

Aches & Pains…

Aches, Pains and Niggles, we don’t have to put up with them…

So as you will have read from some of Hannah’s previous blogs (RECOVERY, OVER TRAINING, STRETCHING) sports massage has a wide range of benefits that can help everyone from the avid gym goer to the seasoned athlete manage their aches & pains.

Here we are going to concentrate on the benefits of sport massage in relation to aches & pains and lets not forget those niggles too! When we say this, we mean muscle pain, discomfort, tightness and those things that lead you to noticing your body not feeling quite how you know it should.

Sports massage helps to:

  • Increased blood flow and circulation, which brings needed nutrition to muscles and tissues. This aids in recovery of muscle soreness from physical activity or soft tissue injury (such as muscle strain).
  • Decreased tension in the muscles. This muscle relaxation can improve flexibility, reduce pain caused by tight muscles and even improve sleep.
  • Increased endorphin levels–the “feel good” chemicals in the brain. This mood enhancer can ease depression and anxiety, which can help reduce pain and speed recovery. Particularly important for those suffering from back or neck problems.

In my next few blogs I am going to look at some common aches, pains and niggles and explain why you don’t need to put up with them and get you back on track to feeling “normal” again.

In the meantime if you do have any questions please drop me a message or pop your head in and say hello. If you are feeling a little worn down and feel you need to get yourself booked in please drop me a message HERE or give me a bell on 07717723580 you will be surprised at how good you will feel!
